How Auto DJ Works

When Auto DJ is active, SAM Broadcaster Pro automatically pulls tracks from your categories in the order defined by your rotation, crossfades between Deck A and Deck B, and keeps the queue filled without any manual intervention.

Enable Auto DJ using the Auto DJ + button in the toolbar.

Building a Rotation

A rotation is a sequence of category entries that Auto DJ works through repeatedly. A basic rotation might look like:

• Music
• Music
• Jingle
• Music
• Music
• Sweeper

This creates a structured hour where jingles and sweepers appear at regular intervals between songs.

Artist and Title Separation

Separation rules prevent the same artist or song from playing too close together. Access these settings via the Config button in the toolbar. Recommended starting values:

• Artist separation — 60 to 90 minutes
• Title separation — 6 to 24 hours depending on your library size

With a small library you may need to reduce these values. Increase them as your library grows.

Crossfade Settings

SAM Broadcaster Pro handles crossfading between Deck A and Deck B automatically. Crossfade settings are configured via the Config button. Key options include crossfade duration and fade curve type. If your tracks have cue points set (intro/outro markers), SAM uses them for cleaner transitions.

Gap Killer

SAM Broadcaster Pro includes a Gap Killer feature that detects and skips silence at the end of tracks, preventing dead air between songs. This is particularly useful if your audio files have trailing silence.

Testing Auto DJ

1. Enable Auto DJ +
2. Let SAM run for 30 to 60 minutes
3. Monitor the queue to confirm the rotation is pulling from categories in the correct order
4. Check that separation rules are working — the same artist should not appear back to back
5. Listen to crossfades and adjust timing if needed
