Tell it what you want to hear. It builds the playlist from your own library.
SA Pro Playlist Creator is a Windows app from Station Admin for internet radio stations, LPFM and small FM stations, and DJs. Type or say a request, for example “a three-hour playlist of classic rock, only songs that made the Billboard top 20”. It reads your SAM Broadcaster or PlayoutONE library, works out the rules, and builds a playlist with proper artist and album separation. It also cleans up wrong years and messy genres in your library, then sends the fixes back to your playout system.
In January 2027 we will launch SA Pro Playlist Creator. We are looking for 10 stations to beta test it first. Beta testers get a free lifetime Pro license.

Ask for a playlist in plain English
Type your request on the Create page, click Speak instead to say it, or click one of the idea cards. The AI turns your request into playlist rules using the real genre and category names from your library, so it asks for music you actually have. Some examples:
- “Two hours of 80s and 90s dance, upbeat, no ballads”
- “A three-hour classic rock show, only Billboard top 20 hits”
- “An hour of female vocalists from the 70s”
- “Our morning show sound” (describe your station once in Settings and the app understands requests like this)
While it works, you see each step and can cancel at any time. When it’s done you see what the AI understood, every song with its Billboard peak, and a note if your library came up short. Prefer to set the rules yourself? Exact rules gives you length, song count, filters, clocks and voiceovers.
Works with your playout system
- SAM Broadcaster: reads your library straight from SAM’s database, and can add a finished playlist to SAM’s queue (it asks you first).
- PlayoutONE: reads your library and links each song to its file.
- Music folders: no playout system? Scan your folders instead.
- 15 export formats, including M3U and SAM Broadcaster playlists. The app picks the formats that suit the system your songs came from.
A cleaner music library
Most libraries are full of compilation years, “Rock” on everything, and typos in artist names. Good playlists need good data, so the app builds its own master library from your playout system and music folders, then checks it.
- Verified years and genres: each song’s first release, single release and original album are looked up on MusicBrainz, Wikidata, the Billboard charts, Discogs and Last.fm. A value only counts as verified when two sources agree. Anything that can’t be verified stays blank instead of being guessed.
- Fix Names: finds typos in artist and song names.
- You stay in charge: you review what was found, tick what you want, and apply it. Every change can be undone.
- Analyze Library: measures each song’s musical key (Camelot), energy, and how it starts and ends, for smoother segues.
- Write Tags: writes the cleaned values into your audio files’ tags, with a preview and Undo.
Send the fixes back to SAM and PlayoutONE, safely
- Backup first, every time. The app backs up your playout system’s song data before any change, keeps an original backup that is never overwritten, and can restore any backup.
- Sync now writes verified values into SAM (BPM, mood, genre, year and musical key) and PlayoutONE (genre, and year only where it’s empty).
- Try on 10 songs first lets you check the results before sending the rest.
- Safe while you’re on air. Songs that played recently are left alone and picked up next time.
Playlist rules you don’t have to think about
- Artist and album separation on every playlist.
- US DMCA webcasting limits built in: in any 3 hours, no more than 3 songs from one album (2 in a row) and 4 by one artist (3 in a row).
- Hour clocks, multi-hour shows and a weekly schedule for stations that plan ahead.
- Reports: an airplay report, an as-aired check and rotation health. Playlists you only preview are never counted as aired.
Your choice of AI
Use Claude, ChatGPT (OpenAI), Gemini, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI or OpenRouter with your own account, or run a free AI model on your own PC with Ollama or LM Studio. For Ollama, the app shows which models your PC can handle. API keys are encrypted for your Windows account. Every request is logged with the service, how long it took, and its estimated cost. You can also set a backup service for when your first choice is down.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC
- SAM Broadcaster or PlayoutONE (or a folder of music)
- An account with one of the AI services above, or a PC that can run a local AI model
- An internet connection, for the AI service and the release-year lookups
The beta program
Who we’re looking for
- Stations that have been on the air for at least 2 years with a regular schedule
- A station website we can visit
- SAM Broadcaster or PlayoutONE on a Windows 10 or 11 PC
- A music library of at least 1,000 songs
- Any genre and any audience size. We want a mix, from stations with a handful of listeners to stations with hundreds, so we’ll ask about your genres and your average number of listeners at the same time.
What we’ll ask you to do
- Use the app to generate and air at least one playlist per day on your station for about 6 weeks
- At the end of each week, provide a brief comment about the app’s performance (required)
- Tell us what breaks, what confuses you, and what’s missing
- Fill in a short survey at the end (required)
- Provide a testimonial for the StationAdmin.Com website detailing your opinion of the app (required)
What you get
- A free lifetime Pro license, including future updates
- Direct contact with the developer. Your feedback decides what gets fixed and built next.
An honest note
This is beta software, and it can write to your playout system’s database. It always makes a backup first and can restore it, but please keep your own backup of your SAM or PlayoutONE database as well, and try the sync on a few songs before the rest.
Questions
Does the beta cost anything?
No. The app and your Pro license are free. If you use a paid AI service such as Claude or ChatGPT, that service bills you for what you use, usually a few cents per playlist. The app shows the estimated cost of each request. A local AI model on your own PC costs nothing.
Will it change my SAM or PlayoutONE database?
Only when you click Sync now or add a playlist to SAM’s queue, and only after a backup. Building and previewing playlists, checking release years and reviewing changes all happen inside the app.
I use RadioDJ, StationPlaylist or something else. Can I apply?
For this beta we need SAM Broadcaster or PlayoutONE stations. You can still apply and tell us what you use, and we’ll get in touch when your system is supported.
My station isn’t in the US. Can I apply?
Yes. The US DMCA limits are on by default, but everything else works the same wherever you are.
How do you pick beta testers?
We look for a mix of genres, station sizes and playout systems, so the app gets tested the way real stations use it. If there are more applicants than spots, we’ll keep your details and contact you first when the app launches.
What happens to the details I send?
We use them only to choose beta testers and to contact you about the beta and the app’s launch. We don’t sell or share them.
Apply to be a beta tester
It takes about 3 minutes. We’ll reply by email either way.
